CHICAGO, Nov. 1, 2016 — CCIM Institute honored Sandy G. Shindleman, CCIM, president and CEO of Shindico in Winnipeg, Canada, and Bruce Harvey, CCIM, of RE/MAX in Winnipeg, Canada, with the Susan J. Groeneveld, CCIM, Visionary Award during the organization’s Annual Governance Meetings in Atlanta, Oct. 24–28. Multiple CCIM leaders lauded Shindleman and Harvey for their vision, dedication, and efforts to promote CCIM Institute globally.

To earn the prestigious Susan J. Groeneveld, CCIM, Visionary Award, individuals must be nominated by a minimum of 10 individuals in the commercial real estate industry, including members and staff of CCIM Institute. Nominees must demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and vision that promotes the CCIM strategic plan; innovation and creativity in projects that support the Institute; effective collaboration with CCIM members, staff, and other organizations; and involvement with CCIM Institute for more than 10 years, among other criteria.

“Canada was CCIM Institute’s first international market,” says 2010 CCIM Institute President Richard Juge, CCIM. “Sandy and Bruce were critical in venturing outside of the U.S. border, and they continue to assist in instructing and being involved in both the chapter and membership side of CCIM Institute.”

Shindleman has been a senior instructor for CCIM Institute since 1980, on the CCIM Board of Directors, the CCIM International Affairs Committee, and past president of the CCIM Foundation. He has instructed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia on behalf of CCIM Institute.

“For more than 30 years, Sandy and Bruce have worked to extend our CCIM education and membership across Canada,” says 2017 CCIM Institute First Vice President Barbara M. Crane, CCIM. “They have also spent many years serving CCIM Institute as exemplary members of our Instructor cadre, Board of Directors, and CCIM Foundation leadership.”

Harvey has more than 21 years of experience as a senior instructor for CCIM Institute teaching financial analysis, selling skills, and use of software to generate sensitivity analysis. He has also received the Cl 104 Senior Instructor of the Year award in 2004 and 2008.

About the CCIM Institute

Since 1967, the Chicago-based CCIM Institute has conferred the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation to commercial real estate and allied professionals through an extensive curriculum of 160 classroom hours and professional experiential requirements. The CCIM curriculum was redesigned in 2010 to reflect changing student demographics and real estate brokerage services, growth in international markets, new technologies, and new delivery models. The core curriculum addresses financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, investment analysis, and negotiation—the cornerstones of commercial investment real estate.

An affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, the CCIM Institute also provides members with powerful technology tools including the Site To Do Business, an online site analysis and demographics resource.

Currently, there are nearly 10,000 CCIMs in 1,000 U.S. markets and 31 additional countries, with another 3,000+ practitioners pursuing the designation, making the institute the governing body of one of the largest commercial real estate networks in the world.
